Heavy and continuous downpours in Nepal can be disastrous for North Bihar. Several rivers that flow in from Nepal - Kosi, Bagmati, Kamla Balan, Mahanda, and Parman are flowing above the danger level mark. Whereas, Gandak River has already crossed the warning level. Even the Ganga's level is growing rapidly between Patna and Bhagalpur.
As per Bihar's Department of Water Resources, in Purnea, Mahananda is flowing 1 meter above the danger level. Bagmati is flowing 60 cm above the danger mark in Sitamarhi and Kosi is above by 50 cm from the danger level in Supaul.
Similarly, Kamla Balan is flowing 50 cm above the danger mark in Madhubani. Parman is also above the danger mark by 45 cm in Purnea. Bagmati has reached a warning level in Muzaffarpur. All these areas are densely populated zones of Bihar.
Kosi, who is also called Bihar's sorrow, crossed the danger mark on Monday evening. After heavy rainfall in the Baraah zone, the Birpur Barrage water level has soared above 1.82 lakh cusec. Whereas in Valmiki Nagar Barrage, the water level of Gandak has crossed 52 thousand cusecs.
